Volyymeinas is a fictional term used in speculative fiction and worldbuilding to describe a class of programmable crystalline materials capable of volumetric data storage and optical processing. The concept combines elements of volume-based memory with a suffix that signals a family of related materials, rather than a single compound.

In the in-universe descriptions, volyymeinas are envisioned as three-dimensional lattices of interlinked nano-crystals. They are said to encode information in metastable states that can be flipped by targeted light pulses or electric fields, enabling true three-dimensional addressing and very high data densities. Various authors place different chemical foundations for volyymeinas—ranging from doped chalcogenide platforms to perovskite-like frameworks—but the unifying idea is a material whose properties can be precisely tuned for storage, retrieval, and simple computation within a single medium.
