Unifying is the act or process of bringing together disparate parts to form a single, coherent whole. It can refer to social cohesion, political consolidation, scientific theory, or organizational integration. Unifying efforts aim to identify common principles, align structures, and reduce fragmentation without erasing essential differences.

In politics and society, unification often involves merging political entities, states, or communities, sometimes through negotiation, reform, or revolution. Notable historical instances include the unification of Germany in 1871, which consolidated numerous German states under Prussian leadership, and the Risorgimento that culminated in the unification of Italy in 1861. In science, unification refers to creating a single explanatory framework for previously separate phenomena, such as the unification of electricity and magnetism by James Clerk Maxwell, or the electroweak unification in particle physics.
