Vetytyksessä refers to a Finnish term that combines the words *vetytys* (hydrogenation) and *tyksessä* (a colloquial suffix meaning "thing" or "matter"). The term is often used in everyday Finnish language to describe the process of hydrogenation, particularly in the context of food production. Hydrogenation is a chemical process in which unsaturated fats are converted into saturated fats through the addition of hydrogen atoms, typically using a catalyst like nickel.

The process is commonly applied to vegetable oils to create solid or semi-solid fats, such as margarine or shortening. These products are widely used in cooking and food manufacturing due to their stability and longer shelf life compared to liquid oils.
