Vaijerinostimet are lifting devices that use a wire rope wound on a drum to raise and lower loads. They are a common lifting component in cranes, gantry systems, and other material handling equipment, and are used in industries such as manufacturing, warehousing, construction, ports, and shipyards.

A typical vaijerinostimet consists of a drive unit (electric motor or hydraulic drive), a gear reduction, and a brake, connected to a winding drum around which a steel wire rope is wound. One end of the rope is attached to a fixed point, while the other end carries a hook. The rope passes through pulleys or sheaves to provide the desired lifting speed and mechanical advantage. The hoist may be mounted on a trolley to travel along a crane span or integrated into a fixed lifting frame. Many models include safety features such as overload protection, limit switches, and anti-two-block devices to prevent accidental hoist damage or rope tangling.

Capacity and variants: Rated lifting capacities vary from a few hundred kilograms to several tens of tons. Variants are distinguished by reeving arrangements (single- or multiple-line configurations), which affect lifting speed and rope length, as well as drive type (electric, battery-powered, or hydraulic) and mounting (drum-hoist, headroom, or portable units).

Operation and maintenance: Vaijerinostimet are operated by a control pendant or remote control to raise, lower, and sometimes travel the load. Regular inspection of the wire rope, drum, pulleys, and braking system is required to prevent fatigue, wear, corrosion, and rope failure. Maintenance should follow manufacturer recommendations and applicable safety standards.
