A vahapinta is typically made from natural waxes such as beeswax, carnauba, and microcrystalline wax, sometimes blended with small amounts of oil or solvent to aid application. The finish is usually applied as a paste or soft wax and is worked into the grain with a cloth, brush, or applicator. After application, excess wax is removed and the surface is buffed to achieve the desired level of sheen, which can range from matte to satin.
