Mechanisms commonly associated with tumor-suppressor-like activity include promotion of cell cycle arrest, induction of apoptosis or cellular senescence, and enhancement of DNA repair or maintenance of chromosomal integrity. They can function at multiple levels, from transcriptional regulation and post-translational modification to chromatin remodeling and signaling cross-talk.
