TogetherCan is a non‑profit organization founded in 2018 that aims to foster collaboration among small businesses, community groups, and local governments to address social and environmental challenges. The organization was established by a consortium of entrepreneurs, civic leaders and academic researchers who identified a gap in coordinated community action. Its mission statement emphasizes “building shared solutions through transparent partnership and collective impact” and its vision is to create resilient communities that thrive sustainable practices.

To fulfill its goal, TogetherCan runs a regional partnership network that connects stakeholders around priority issues such as waste reduction, renewable energy adoption, affordable housing and disaster preparedness. The network organizes quarterly “Action Summits” where participants identify common objectives, allocate resources, and co‑design programs. TogetherCan also offers a digital platform that tracks joint projects, shares best practices and provides metrics on environmental and social outcomes. The platform’s open‑source data model has been adopted by more than 150 municipalities across the United States by 2025.

In addition to coordination, TogetherCan provides grant funding, technical assistance and public awareness campaigns. Its award‑winning “Community Innovation Grant” has supported more than 300 projects, including rainwater harvesting systems in rural counties, neighborhood solar cooperatives and inclusive workforce training initiatives. The organization works closely with academic partners at several universities to evaluate the impact of its programs and publish peer‑reviewed reports.
