A toe kick, also written as toekick, is a recessed space at the bottom of base cabinets and vanities that provides room for the toes when a person stands at a counter. It allows a closer stance to the work surface while protecting the wall from scuffing and making cleaning easier. Toe kicks can also conceal plumbing, electrical runs, or radiant heating located behind the cabinet base.
