A toe kick, also written as toekick, is a recessed space at the bottom of base cabinets and vanities that provides room for the toes when a person stands at a counter. It allows a closer stance to the work surface while protecting the wall from scuffing and making cleaning easier. Toe kicks can also conceal plumbing, electrical runs, or radiant heating located behind the cabinet base.

Typical toe kicks are about 3.5 to 4 inches tall (roughly 9 to 10 cm) and around 4 inches deep (approximately 10 cm), though dimensions vary by cabinet style and regional practice. The recessed area may be a simple panel, a curved toe return, or a continuous channel along the base cabinet. Materials commonly used include wood, plywood, MDF, and sometimes tile or stone-faced panels that match or contrast with the cabinetry. Toe kicks may be integrated with the baseboard or formed as a separate removable panel to facilitate access.

Installation generally involves attaching the kick to the cabinet base with screws or nails, with some designs allowing removal for maintenance or plumbing access. In some bathroom vanities or accessibility-focused designs, full-height toe kicks or alternative clearance methods may be used to accommodate mobility needs.
