Stylistik is a field and, in some languages, a term for the study of how linguistic form and stylistic choices affect interpretation. In English, the closest common term is stylistics. Stylistik analyzes how choices in diction, syntax, rhythm, imagery, metaphor, and other figures shape tone, voice, and audience response. The field is interdisciplinary, drawing on linguistics, literary analysis, rhetoric, and cognitive science to explain why a text feels particular or how it achieves a specific effect.

The spelling stylistik appears in several European languages as a direct cognate of the English term stylistics or a local rendering of Stilistik. In practice, stylistik may cover literary stylistics as well as applied contexts such as media, advertising, and branding where language design is intentional.

Methods in stylistik blend qualitative close reading with quantitative methods. Analysts identify devices such as metaphor, metonymy, allusion, polysemy, parallelism, and sentence rhythm, and may measure style markers across genres or authors. Corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, and digital humanities tools are often used to support findings.

Applications of stylistik span multiple domains. In literary criticism, it helps explain authorial voice and genre conventions. In journalism and marketing, it informs readability, persuasive effect, and audience targeting. In translation and localization, stylistik guides the adaptation of tone and register to new languages and cultural contexts.
