Silketryck, also known as silk screening or serigraphy, is a printing technique that involves forcing ink through a stencil placed over a screen to create an image or design on a substrate. The process is widely used in various industries, including textiles, posters, t-shirts, and signage, due to its versatility and durability.

The method begins with creating a stencil on a fine mesh screen, typically made of polyester or nylon. The stencil is created using a light-sensitive emulsion that hardens when exposed to light, leaving open areas where ink can pass through. The design is printed onto the screen using a photographic negative or a hand-drawn stencil, and the exposed areas are washed away, leaving a precise image.

To print, the screen is placed over the substrate, and ink is applied with a squeegee, which pushes the ink through the open areas of the stencil onto the surface below. Multiple colors can be printed by repeating the process with separate screens for each color. Once printed, the design is cured, often using heat or ultraviolet light, to ensure the ink bonds properly to the material.
