shtatzënë
Shtatzënë is the Albanian word for pregnant. It refers to the state of a female mammal's body during pregnancy, when one or more offspring develop inside the uterus. This period begins with conception and ends with childbirth. In humans, a pregnancy typically lasts around 40 weeks, measured from the last menstrual period. During this time, the fertilized egg implants in the uterine wall and develops into an embryo, then a fetus. The mother's body undergoes significant physiological changes to support the growing fetus, including hormonal shifts, increased blood volume, and modifications to various organ systems. Regular prenatal care is often recommended to monitor the health of both the mother and the developing baby. The term "shtatzënë" encompasses the entire biological and developmental process of carrying a child.
