Räddningshund is a Swedish term that translates to "rescue dog." These are dogs specifically trained to assist in search and rescue operations. They are invaluable partners to human rescue teams, using their enhanced senses of smell, hearing, and agility to locate missing persons or survivors in various challenging environments.

The training for a räddningshund is rigorous and can take several years to complete. Dogs undergo extensive socialization and obedience training, followed by specialized training for specific search disciplines. These disciplines can include tracking, where the dog follows a scent trail, or area searching, where the dog systematically covers a designated zone to detect human scent.
