Rullefriksjonskraften, also known as rolling resistance, is a force that opposes the motion of a body rolling on a surface. It arises from the deformation of both the rolling object and the surface it moves upon. When a wheel or ball rolls, it is not a perfect process. This deformation means that the contact area is not a single point but rather a small region.

As the rolling object moves, the material at the front of the contact area is compressed, and the material at the rear is allowed to expand.
