Rozvody is the term used in Czech and Polish law to describe the legal dissolution of a marriage. They can conclude the marital relationship and, in many jurisdictions, also determine the future rights and obligations of the former spouses, including matters related to children and property. In addition to civil marriages, some systems recognize civil unions or registered partnerships, which may have separate mechanisms for dissolution.

There are different types of rozvody. Consensual or uncontested rozvod occurs when both spouses agree to end the marriage and settle key issues amicably. Contested or non-consensual rozvod occurs when one party opposes the dissolution or cannot agree on essential terms, and a court must decide. Some systems recognize no-fault rozvod, where the couple does not need to prove wrongdoing, while others preserve fault-based grounds such as adultery or abandonment, which can influence outcomes in certain cases.

Typical steps in a rozvod include filing a petition, service of documents, and response by the other spouse. Temporary measures may address custody, visitation, child support, or use of the family home. A final divorce decree is issued after any required separation period and, in consensual cases, a settlement agreement covering property division, debts, maintenance, and parenting plans. In contested rozvody, the court determines these matters.

Outcomes commonly addressed are the division of marital property, spousal maintenance, child custody or parental authority, and child support. Custody and access arrangements focus on the best interests of the child. While religious ceremonies may accompany civil rozvod in some communities, the civil decree is the binding legal act.
