Revisionsin is a conceptual model and set of practices for representing and managing the history of digital artifacts through a structured revision graph. The term is used in theoretical discussions of revision control, provenance, and content management to describe an integrated approach that treats revisions as first-class entities rather than mere snapshots or commits.

In the revisionsin model, every artifact maintains a chain of revisions. Each revision records the preceding revision, the operation or delta that produced the change, and metadata such as author, timestamp, and provenance. A revision graph may support branches, merges, and rebasing, enabling multiple lines of development to coexist and be reconciled within a single system. Deltas and snapshots allow both fine-grained and materialized historic views of artifacts.

The data model typically includes: Revision nodes, Change sets, Snapshots, and metadata fields such as lineage, authorship, and integrity hashes. Storage often relies on delta encoding, content-addressable storage, and cryptographic checksums to ensure integrity and efficient retrieval. Access control and lineage policies govern who can read or modify revisions, while conflict resolution strategies determine how divergent edits are reconciled.

Applications encompass collaborative document editing, software configuration management, digital asset management, and archival systems. Implementations are commonly built as client–server architectures with REST or GraphQL APIs, using graph or document databases to store the revision graph and associated metadata.
