The reproduktiivsüsteemis, also known as the reproductive system, is a complex network of organs and tissues responsible for the production of offspring and the continuation of a species. In males, the primary organs include the testes, which produce sperm and hormones such as testosterone. The epididymis stores and matures sperm, while the vas deferens transports it during ejaculation. The seminal vesicles and prostate gland contribute fluids to form semen, which carries sperm out of the body through the urethra. Accessory structures like the penis facilitate sexual intercourse and urine excretion.

In females, the reproductive system includes the ovaries, which produce eggs (ova) and hormones like estrogen and progesterone. The fallopian tubes transport the egg from the ovary to the uterus, where implantation of a fertilized egg occurs. The uterus, a muscular organ, supports fetal development during pregnancy. The cervix connects the uterus to the vagina, which serves as the birth canal and the receptacle for the penis during intercourse. The vulva encompasses the external genitalia, including the labia, clitoris, and vaginal opening.

Both systems work together during sexual reproduction. Fertilization typically occurs when sperm from the male meets an egg in the fallopian tube. If successful, the fertilized egg implants in the uterus, leading to pregnancy. Hormonal regulation, particularly by estrogen and progesterone in females and testosterone in males, ensures proper functioning and coordination of reproductive processes.

The reproductive system also plays a role in secondary sexual characteristics, such as breast development in females and facial hair growth in males, which emerge during puberty. Overall, the system is essential for biological reproduction, genetic diversity, and the perpetuation of human life.
