Realizators are agents, devices, or processes that convert potential configurations, plans, or specifications into actualized states within a system. The term is used across disciplines such as systems theory, computer science, and philosophy of mind to distinguish between abstract representations and their concrete instantiation.

Definition and function: A realizator takes an input, such as a design sketch, a logical specification, or an intentional plan, and produces a realized output, such as a functioning component, a compiled program, or an enacted action. Realizators implement decisions, perform transformations, and ensure that the system evolves from a possible state to a realized state. They may operate deterministically or probabilistically, and they may be instantiated in physical hardware, software, or social practice.

Categories: Hardware realizators include processors, actuators, and circuits that execute instructions; software realizators include compilers and executables that realize high-level code; social realizators include human actors and organizational procedures that bring plans into operation. Theoretical realizators appear in modeling and simulation as components that instantiate abstract models in concrete data structures and simulations, or in philosophy, where realizators relate mental content to brain states or bodily processes.

Relation to realizability: Realizators are distinct from the abstract property of realizability, which concerns whether a specification can be realized. Realizators are the actual mechanisms by which realization is carried out.
