Origin and terminology: The word appears in recent process-optimization literature and industry discussions as a portmanteau of reagent and optimise (or optimize). It does not yet denote a single standardized method but rather a family of approaches centered on feedback-driven control of reagent inputs. The term is more common in discussions of advanced process control and sustainable chemistry than in traditional bench chemistry.

Techniques and implementation: Reagimise relies on inline analytics such as NIR, IR, or Raman spectroscopy, often in combination with flow chemistry or semi-continuous reactors and automated dosing systems. Control strategies may include model predictive control, adaptive dosing, and digital-twin simulations to forecast reaction trajectories and determine corrective actions in real time.

Applications and benefits: Potential gains include higher yields and improved selectivity, reduced solvent use and waste, lower energy consumption, and greater tolerance to feedstock variability. The concept has been explored in pharmaceutical synthesis, esterifications, and polymerization where reaction progress can be monitored continuously and reagents adjusted accordingly.
