Rakusüsteem (Estonian for missile system) refers to an integrated military system designed to detect, identify, track, and engage targets with missiles. It combines missiles with launch platforms, fire-control and guidance equipment, sensors, communications, and command-and-control networks to plan and execute engagements. The term covers a range of applications, from ground-based air defence to surface-to-surface strike systems, as well as anti-ship and air-to-missile configurations.

Core components of a rakusüsteem typically include the missiles themselves, fixed or mobile launchers, a fire-control system for targeting and guidance, sensors such as radar or electro-optical systems, a command-and-control backbone, data links for information sharing, and support infrastructure like power supplies and maintenance facilities. Guidance methods may involve inertial navigation, satellite-based positioning, terminal guidance, and autonomous or coordinated engagement through networked sensor data.

Rakusüsteemid are categorized by their intended role and platform. Ballistic and cruise missile systems deliver warheads over long distances; surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems provide air defence; anti-ship missile systems target maritime vessels; and air-to-surface systems project missiles from aircraft. Their effectiveness depends on integration with broader air, land, and sea surveillance networks, as well as on the reliability of launchers, missiles, and fire-control software.
