Rafskautum is a term of Icelandic origin that translates to "electric skate" or "electric ray." It refers to a type of cartilaginous fish belonging to the order Torpediniformes. These fish are characterized by their ability to generate and discharge powerful electric shocks. The electric organs are derived from modified muscle tissue and are located on either side of the fish's head and pectoral fins.
