Röntgenképalkotásban refers to the process of creating images using X-rays. This diagnostic imaging technique utilizes electromagnetic radiation, specifically X-rays, to visualize the internal structures of the body. When X-rays pass through the body, different tissues absorb the radiation to varying degrees. Denser tissues like bone absorb more X-rays, appearing white on the resulting image, while softer tissues like muscle and organs absorb less, appearing in shades of gray. Air-filled spaces, such as the lungs, absorb very little and appear black.

The X-rays that pass through the patient are detected by a special sensor or photographic plate, which then translates the varying degrees of absorption into a visual image. This image, known as a radiograph or X-ray, provides valuable information for diagnosing a wide range of conditions, including fractures, infections, tumors, and blockages. It is a fundamental tool in medical imaging, used extensively in orthopedics, dentistry, and internal medicine. While generally safe when used appropriately, the radiation exposure is a consideration, and the technique is employed judiciously, particularly in children and pregnant women. Modern advancements have led to digital radiography, which offers improved image quality, faster processing, and reduced radiation doses compared to older film-based methods.
