purpurina
Purpurina, commonly known as glitter, refers to small, flat, reflective particles used to add sparkle to crafts, cosmetics, and performances. It is typically made from plastic films such as polyester or organza coated with aluminum or metallic pigments, giving a brilliant mirror-like finish. Particles come in various shapes (flakes, hexagons, circles) and sizes, often ranging from about 0.2 mm to several millimeters. In recent years, biodegradable glitter made from cellulose or polylactic acid (PLA) has been developed as an alternative aimed at reducing environmental impact. Even so, the term biodegradable is not universal and some products only degrade under industrial composting conditions.
Purpurina is used in arts and crafts, cosmetics, fashion and stage designs, and product packaging or decorative
