Puheohjausta, literally “speech guidance” in Finnish, refers to the set of technologies and methods that enable users to control devices and software through spoken language. It encompasses speech recognition, natural language understanding, dialogue management, and speech synthesis, delivered through embedded systems or cloud-based services. In practice, puheohjausta allows users to issue commands, ask questions, and conduct multi-step interactions without manual input.

Technology components include speech recognition (transcribing spoken input), natural language processing (interpreting intent and extracting meaning), dialogue management (determining appropriate system responses), and speech synthesis (producing spoken output).
