Puheenvuoro is a speaking turn in a formal discussion or decision-making meeting, through which a participant is granted the right to present views or arguments to the group. The standard Finnish plural is puheenvuorot; the form puheenvuodot is commonly viewed as a misspelling or nonstandard variant. The concept is widely used in parliamentary, municipal and organizational settings, as well as in debate forums.

Puheenvuorot occur in contexts such as city councils, parliamentary sessions, boards and committees, or public deliberations. Attendees typically request the floor, after which the chair or moderator assigns the speaking order. Time limits are commonly set for each speaker to ensure efficient discussion, with durations varying by body and agenda item.

The procedure generally involves signaling the desire to speak, being recognized by the chair, delivering the speech within the allocated time, and then yielding the floor back to the chair. Speakers should address the group, stay on topic, and avoid interruptions or personal attacks. After a puheenvuoro ends, others may request the floor in turn, or the chair may move to the next item.

Etiquette and rules of procedure influence puheenvuorot. In many bodies, the floor is not automatically granted to those who stand first; the chair manages order, and timekeeping, and may cut off a speech that deviates from the subject or exceeds limits. The concept is also relevant in online debates and organization meetings, where virtual tools replicate the same turn-taking principles.
