Applications of psychology span mental health care, assessment, and psychotherapy, as well as educational guidance, program evaluation, and policy development. It also contributes to human factors, user experience design, and organizational development, helping to optimize performance, safety, and well-being across settings.

Education and professional practice typically involve advanced training, with bachelor’s degrees followed by graduate studies. Licensure or credentialing is common for clinical work. Major professional organizations include the American Psychological Association and the British Psychological Society, which promote research, ethics, and professional standards.
