Prøvemaskin, a Norwegian term meaning "test machine", is a machine or assembly used to test, validate, and demonstrate components, subsystems, or whole systems under controlled conditions. It is employed in research, development, and pre-production to observe performance, determine limits, verify models, and identify potential failures before deployment in production equipment.

Such machines are designed to replicate real operating environments while allowing precise control and measurement. A prøvemaskin typically comprises a frame or support structure, actuators or drives to create motion or loads, devices for applying loads (hydraulic, pneumatic, or electric), sensors (forces, torques, strains, temperatures, speeds), a data acquisition and control system, and safety enclosures or barriers.
