Présöntés is a Hungarian term that denotes a family of metal casting processes in which molten metal is forced under high pressure into a steel mold (die). The method is commonly equated with high‑pressure die casting (HPDC) and is used to produce intricate, dimensionally tight parts with smooth surfaces and thin walls.

The process generally involves melting an alloy, injecting the liquid metal into a closed die using a hydraulic or servo‑driven machine, and rapidly cooling it to solidify the part. After solidification, the die opens and ejector pins release the part. Two main machine types are used: hot‑chamber systems, efficient for zinc and similar alloys, and cold‑chamber systems, preferred for aluminum, magnesium, and other alloys with high melting points.

Common alloys include zinc-based Zamak and aluminum alloys such as A380 and A413, with magnesium alloys used for lighter components. Material choice depends on required strength, weight, corrosion resistance, and surface finish. The process is valued for high production rates and good repeatability, enabling tight tolerances and smooth finishes suitable for mass‑market products.

Applications span automotive components (engine housings, transmission covers), consumer electronics enclosures, power tools, toys, and various household appliances. Design considerations emphasize uniform wall thickness, fillets, and adequate draft to facilitate ejection, as well as venting and alloy selection to minimize porosity and inclusions. While offering efficiency at scale, présöntés entails high tooling costs and size limitations, making it most economical for large‑volume production of relatively small to medium parts.
