Porcelain production is a multifaceted industrial process that transforms raw materials into durable and aesthetically pleasing ceramic products. The industry relies on a specific blend of clays, feldspar, and quartz, carefully mixed and processed to achieve the desired consistency. This mixture, known as the porcelain body, is then shaped through various techniques, including slip casting for hollow items, pressing for solid forms, and extrusion for rods or tubes.

Following shaping, the "greenware" is subjected to a drying process to remove excess moisture, preventing cracking during firing. The crucial stage of firing occurs in kilns at extremely high temperatures, typically between 1200 and 1450 degrees Celsius. This intense heat causes vitrification, a process where the materials fuse together, creating the dense, non-porous, and strong material characteristic of porcelain. After the initial firing, known as bisque firing, a glaze is often applied. This glaze, a glassy coating, is fired again at slightly lower temperatures to melt and fuse with the porcelain body, providing a smooth, impermeable surface and enhancing the product's appearance.

The porcelain industry encompasses a wide range of products, from tableware and sanitary ware to electrical insulators, decorative items, and even specialized technical components. The precise control of raw material composition, shaping methods, and firing conditions is paramount to achieving the specific properties required for each application.
