Polikliniki (singular poliklinika) are outpatient medical facilities that provide a range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services to a defined population. Unlike hospitals, they do not typically maintain beds for inpatient care. Services commonly include general practice or family medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, dentistry, laboratory testing, imaging, minor surgical procedures, vaccination, and chronic disease management.

Organization and access vary by country. In many systems, patients register with a local poliklinika and are assigned a primary care physician who coordinates referrals to specialists within the same facility or regional network. Polikliniki may operate as a single large center or as a network of branches serving a district. They may offer scheduled appointments as well as walk-in consultations, and they often provide preventive programs such as screening and health education.

Historically, polikliniki gained prominence in the 20th century as part of state-run health systems. They were a core element of universal health coverage in several Eastern European and former Soviet countries, emphasizing wide access, population-based care, and integration of services across specialties. In other regions, the term polyclinic is used less often, with outpatient clinics organized around primary care networks rather than a single multi-specialty outpatient institution.

Modern trends include greater integration with hospitals and information technology, extended hours, telemedicine, and emphasis on patient-centered care and chronic care management. Challenges can include funding constraints, staffing pressures, and long wait times in high-demand areas.
