Pervoxel is a term used to describe analyses or operations performed per voxel, where a voxel is the 3D counterpart of a pixel in volumetric data. The term is informal and not standardized, but it conveys pervoxel granularity in processing and interpretation.

In medical imaging and neuroimaging, pervoxel analysis computes properties or statistics at each voxel, enabling maps of tissue properties or functional activity with high spatial resolution. In computer graphics and volumetric rendering, pervoxel approaches can determine density, color, or lighting values for each voxel.

Typical pervoxel tasks include filtering, smoothing, normalization, and feature extraction; data are stored in 3D arrays and processing is often parallelized on GPUs. Challenges include anisotropic resolution, partial volume effects, and the need to address multiple comparisons in voxel-wise statistics.

Compared with per-pixel methods in 2D imaging or region-of-interest analyses, pervoxel approaches preserve local detail but at a higher computational cost. The concept reflects the broader use of volumetric data in science and graphics, where operations operate directly on the 3D grid of data rather than on aggregated or 2D projections.
