Penaltiseerias refers to a series of penalty shootouts used to decide the winner of a football (soccer) match when the score is tied after regular and extra time. This method is employed in knockout stages of competitions such as the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, and many domestic cup competitions.

The process begins with a coin toss to determine which team will take the first penalty. Each team designates five players to take kicks from the penalty spot, with alternating shots. The goalkeepers also have a role, as they attempt to save the opposing team's shots. A goal is scored if the ball crosses the goal line between the goalposts and under the crossbar. If a shot hits the goal frame and rebounds into play, or if the goalkeeper saves it, it does not count as a goal.

If, after five kicks each, the scores are still level, the shootout proceeds to sudden death. In sudden death, teams continue to take penalties one by one. If one team scores and the other misses in the same round, the scoring team wins the shootout. If both teams score or both miss, the shootout continues. This pattern repeats until a winner is determined. Various rules govern who can take penalties, including that all players on the field must have taken a kick before a player can take a second.
