Pedalbrett, often referred to in English as a pedalboard, is a flat platform used to mount guitar effect pedals in a fixed arrangement for live performances or studio work. It helps organize multiple pedals, stabilize connections, and simplify setup and transport.

A typical pedalbrett consists of a base made of aluminum, wood, or composite material, a mounting surface for pedals, and a frame to keep everything aligned. Pedals are usually attached with hook-and-loop fasteners or screws. Power supplies may be mounted underneath or integrated into the board to provide isolated DC power to the pedals. Cable management uses short patch cables and zip ties or Velcro to keep signal and power paths tidy. Optional additions include expression pedals, MIDI controllers, and routing switches.

Layout and usage: The order of pedals affects the resulting signal. A common starting arrangement is tuner, dynamics (compression), overdrive or distortion, modulation (phaser, chorus), time-based effects (delay, reverb), and a final volume or expression control.

Sizes and formats vary from compact boards holding four or five pedals to large rigs with a dozen or more. Boards may be rectangular or custom-shaped, and many are sold with padded cases or flight cases suitable for transport.

History: The pedalboard concept emerged as guitarists adopted more effects during the late 20th century. Advances in lightweight materials and compact powered peripherals helped popularize portable boards, which remain common in live performance and studio setups.
