Paneelen are flat boards or modules used as modular elements in construction, interior design and manufacturing. They form surfaces, enclosures or decorative elements and are designed to be joined to create larger planes. The term covers many materials and constructions, from wood-based panels for walls and furniture to metal, glass or composite sheets.

Materials and types: Wood-based panels include solid wood, plywood, medium-density fibreboard (MDF) and particleboard. Metal panels are commonly steel or aluminum with protective coatings. Composite panels combine thin metal skins with a core material such as plastic or foam. Glass panels are used for partitions and facades, while stone or ceramic panels are employed for cladding. Plastic or PVC panels are common in wet areas. Solar panels are a specialized application that converts sunlight to electricity.
