It is a diverse artistic discipline that encompasses a variety of techniques for creating images by transferring ink from a prepared surface onto paper or another substrate. The fundamental principle involves creating a matrix, which can be made of various materials such as metal, wood, stone, or synthetic plates. Ink is then applied to this matrix, and the image is transferred to the printing surface, often under pressure from a printing press.
