Water pollination, or hydrophily, is less common and occurs in some aquatic plants where pollen is released into or floats on water to reach other flowers.

Animal pollination, or zoophily, is the most widespread and diverse method. Insects, birds, bats, and other animals act as pollinators when they visit flowers to collect nectar or pollen. As they move between flowers, they inadvertently transfer pollen on their bodies. Flowers adapted for animal pollination often possess bright colors, attractive scents, and specialized shapes to attract specific pollinators. For example, insect-pollinated flowers may have sticky pollen, while bird-pollinated flowers might be red and produce copious amounts of nectar.
