Näyttömoduuli, often translated as display module, refers to a self-contained electronic component designed to produce visual output. These modules are fundamental to many electronic devices, from smartphones and televisions to industrial control panels and automotive displays. A typical näyttömoduuli integrates several key elements, including the display panel itself, a controller or driver circuit, and often a backlight unit.

The display panel is the core component responsible for creating the image. Common types of display panels include Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD), Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (OLED), and older technologies like Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) though these are now largely obsolete. Each technology has its own characteristics regarding color reproduction, contrast, viewing angles, power consumption, and refresh rates.

The controller or driver circuit interprets signals from the main processor of the device and translates them into instructions that control the individual pixels on the display panel. This circuitry manages the timing and voltage levels required to illuminate or alter the state of each pixel, ultimately forming the visible image.

Backlighting is essential for display technologies like LCDs, which do not emit their own light. Backlight units, typically using LEDs, provide a consistent light source that shines through the LCD layer, allowing the image to be seen. OLED displays, on the other hand, are self-emissive, meaning each pixel generates its own light, and thus do not require a separate backlight. Näyttömoduuli design also considers factors such as physical size, resolution, touch sensitivity (for touchscreen devices), and interface connectivity to the host system.
