neuroradiologian
A neuroradiologian, more commonly termed a neuroradiologist, is a physician who specializes in neuroradiology, the radiology subspecialty devoted to imaging the nervous system. This includes the brain and spinal cord, as well as adjacent structures in the head and neck. Neuroradiologians interpret a range of imaging studies and may perform image-guided interventions. Common modalities include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), CT and MR angiography, and digital subtraction angiography. They also use advanced techniques such as diffusion-weighted imaging, perfusion imaging, and tractography to assess neural tissue, blood flow, and connectivity. In interventional practice, they may carry out procedures such as endovascular treatment of stroke, treatment of cerebral aneurysms, management of arteriovenous malformations or fistulas, and other minimally invasive cranial or spinal interventions.
Training and certification typically involve completion of a radiology residency followed by a neuroradiology fellowship. Certification
