Nematocida is a term used to describe substances or methods that are toxic to nematodes. Nematodes, often referred to as roundworms, are a diverse group of unsegmented worms found in virtually every habitat on Earth, including soil, freshwater, and marine environments. While many nematodes are beneficial, playing crucial roles in ecosystems as decomposers or predators of pests, others are parasitic, causing significant damage to plants, animals, and humans.

The use of nematocides is primarily focused on controlling these parasitic nematodes. In agriculture, nematocides are applied to soil to protect crops from root-knot nematodes, cyst nematodes, and other species that can devastate yields.
