Napórák, also known as sunspiders or camel spiders, are arachnids belonging to the order Solifugae. They are not true spiders, as they lack silk glands and venom. Instead, their primary defense and hunting mechanism relies on their exceptionally large and powerful chelicerae, or jaws, which can be as long as their bodies. These chelicerae are used to capture prey, which includes insects, other arachnids, and even small vertebrates.

Solifugae are found in arid and semi-arid regions of the world, with significant populations in Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia and the Americas. They are predominantly nocturnal, seeking shelter in burrows or under rocks during the day to avoid the heat. Their bodies are typically covered in dense hairs, which help them sense vibrations and air currents, aiding in locating prey and avoiding predators.

Despite their formidable appearance and common name, napórák are not venomous to humans. While their bite can be painful due to the strength of their jaws, it typically does not cause significant medical issues beyond localized swelling and discomfort. Their speed and agility are notable; they are capable of moving very quickly across the desert floor. Reproduction involves the male depositing a spermatophore, which the female then consumes. They are solitary creatures, with no known social behavior. Their role in the ecosystem is primarily as predators, helping to control populations of smaller invertebrates.
