Motorseid is a term used in some technical discussions to describe a modular drive unit that integrates a motor, gear reducer, feedback sensors, and control electronics in a single enclosure. The aim is to provide a compact, ready-to-use actuator suitable for automated systems and robotics. The term is not standardized, and implementations vary in size, power, and interfacing.

A typical motorseid includes a motor (often brushless DC or servo), a gearhead, an encoder for position or speed feedback, and a drive electronics block. The housing offers mounting surfaces and protection from dust and moisture. Interfaces commonly include power, PWM or digital inputs, and fieldbus or Ethernet communication; many models offer software-configurable parameters and safety features such as overcurrent and overtemperature protection.

Control is generally closed-loop, using encoder feedback to regulate motion according to a trajectory or setpoint. Standard control schemes include PID with velocity and torque limits, with features like ramps, homing, and soft-start. Some designs provide telemetry and programmable logic for autonomous operation.
