motiontaking
Motiontaking is a term used in some circles to describe the practice of capturing moving subjects or scenes for analysis, recreation, or animation. It is not a widely standardized term and may be used with different emphases depending on context. In its broadest sense, motiontaking encompasses video-based capture of movement and the processing of that data, as an alternative to traditional marker-based motion capture.
Practically, motiontaking involves planning and recording movement with cameras—often off-the-shelf or high-speed devices—followed by data extraction.
Applications of motiontaking include film and animation, where it can reduce setup time and equipment costs;
Limitations and challenges include accuracy, especially under occlusion or cluttered backgrounds; variability in lighting and camera
