Ministerpräsident is the title of the head of government of a German federal state (Land). The office leads the state cabinet and is responsible for executive administration, implementing state laws and policy within the competences of the Länder. The feminine form is Ministerpräsidentin.

Election and tenure: The minister president is elected by the state parliament (Landtag) after elections, typically the leader of the majority coalition. The term continues as long as the government retains the confidence of the Landtag. In many states, a vote of no confidence can lead to the replacement of the minister president before the end of a term.
