Mikrosporózisban refers to a medical condition caused by a fungal infection, specifically by fungi belonging to the genus Microsporum. These fungi are a common cause of dermatophytosis, a group of superficial fungal infections affecting the skin, hair, and nails. Microsporum species are particularly known for causing ringworm infections, which can appear on various parts of the body.

The transmission of Microsporum fungi typically occurs through direct contact with an infected person, animal, or contaminated objects like combs, brushes, clothing, or salon equipment. Animals, especially cats and dogs, are frequent carriers of these fungi, making zoonotic transmission a significant route of infection in humans. The fungi thrive in keratin, a protein found in the outer layers of the skin, hair shafts, and nail plates, leading to characteristic symptoms.

Symptoms of mikrosporózisban vary depending on the site of infection. On the skin, it often manifests as a scaly, itchy rash that may form a circular or ring-like shape with a raised border and a clearer center. Hair involvement can lead to hair loss in the affected area, often with broken hairs. Nail infections, known as onychomycosis, can cause discoloration, thickening, and brittleness of the nails. Diagnosis is usually made through clinical examination, microscopic examination of skin scrapings or hair samples, and fungal culture. Treatment typically involves topical or oral antifungal medications.
