Mallrave is a term used to describe electronic music events that take place in shopping mall spaces, as opposed to traditional dedicated clubs or concert venues. These events may be spontaneous or planned, and can be either unauthorized gatherings or sanctioned by mall management or event organizers. Mallraves typically draw on rave culture and electronic dance music, adapting the use of public-commercial spaces to host DJs or live performers, with a focus on dancing, light shows, and visual effects in open concourses or atriums.

Common genres include house, techno, trance, drum and bass, and other EDM styles. A mallrave often features a temporary stage or DJ booth, portable sound systems, glow sticks, LED lighting, and immersive visuals. The atmosphere emphasizes dancing in public spaces, sometimes with crowds that converge from multiple storefronts.

Organizers range from student clubs and hobbyist collectives to event promoters and sometimes mall marketing teams. They may be planned as promotional events for a retailer or community festivals, or occur without formal authorization. Because malls are private property, security and management can enforce rules, cancel performances, or call authorities. Permits, noise restrictions, and age requirements are common considerations.

Safety concerns include crowd management, egress, fire codes, noise complaints, and potential disruptions to normal mall operations. Law enforcement or mall security may intervene if the event is unauthorized.
