Lujuusraja is a Finnish term used in materials science and engineering to describe a material’s strength limit under stress. The exact meaning can vary by field and context, but it commonly refers to either the yield strength—the stress at which a material begins to deform plastically—or the ultimate tensile strength—the maximum stress the material can withstand before fracturing.

Yield strength is defined as the point at which elastic deformation ends and plastic deformation starts. In practice, it is determined from a tensile test, often using a 0.2 percent offset method to produce a reproducible value. The result is usually expressed in megapascals (MPa).
