Linnamüra is the Estonian term for the characteristic acoustic environment of urban areas, commonly translated as city noise. The word combines linn (city) and müra (noise). Linnamüra encompasses the range of sounds produced by human activity and urban infrastructure, including road and rail traffic, construction work, public transportation, street life, and nightlife. The composition of linnamüra varies by neighborhood, time of day, season, and city typology, producing a complex soundscape that residents experience daily.

In studies of urban acoustics, linnamüra is measured with sound level meters and described using metrics such as A-weighted equivalent continuous sound levels (L_Aeq) over a specified period, and regulatory indicators like day-evening-night levels (L_den). Research often emphasizes diurnal patterns, the buildup of peak noise during commuting hours, and the health-related implications of long-term exposure to elevated sound levels.
