While it is a renewable resource, sustainable forestry practices are essential to ensure that harvesting does not lead to deforestation or habitat loss. The combustion of wood releases carbon dioxide, but if forests are managed sustainably, the carbon released can be reabsorbed by growing trees, creating a relatively neutral carbon cycle.
