Blocks and tackles, a system of pulleys, are a classic example of mechanical advantage, allowing a person to lift a much heavier load than they could manage directly. Cranes, though often powered, can also incorporate manual elements in their operation or for smaller, more localized movements. The selection of appropriate lifting equipment depends on the weight of the object, the distance it needs to be moved, and the specific operational environment.
