Korrodálódnak, or *corrosion*, refers to the gradual destruction of materials, primarily metals, due to chemical reactions with their environment. This process is a natural phenomenon that occurs when metals, such as iron, aluminum, or steel, interact with substances like oxygen, moisture, acids, or other corrosive agents. The most common form of corrosion is rusting, which affects iron and steel when exposed to oxygen and water, forming iron oxide—a brittle, reddish-brown compound that weakens the material over time.

Corrosion is influenced by several factors, including environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature, and the presence of pollutants like salt or sulfur compounds. Industrial settings, coastal areas, and regions with high acidity in the air or water are particularly prone to accelerated corrosion.
