Accelerating is the act or process of increasing speed or velocity. In physics, acceleration is defined as the rate at which an object's velocity changes over time; accelerating refers to this change. Acceleration is a vector quantity, with both magnitude and direction, and the standard unit is meters per second squared (m/s^2). If velocity increases in the same direction as the motion, the acceleration is positive; if it decreases, the object experiences deceleration or negative acceleration.
